This will be a fun, social tournament! All skill levels welcome (adults or teens ages 12+), no experience necessary.
Sign up as an individual. The tournament will be run in the "Switcholio" format (see here for the details). You will be paired with different random partners for 4 initial rounds, and then with a single partner for the elimination round. The tournament will run about 3-3.5 hours.
Please see the FAQs below for more info.
How do I sign up?
Fill out this form, which also has instructions on how to send the entry fee.
Why is this happening?
The Feldman/Goldstein family developed a love for (obsession with) cornhole during COVID, and Caleb had the idea to run a local tournament… so here we are! Marion is on the board of MSF, so we thought this would be a fun way to raise money for this great organization. Note that this event is not being run by MSF; we are running it ourselves with the help of Decadent Ales, and donating the proceeds to MSF.
How much does it cost?
We are collecting $40/person. We will use some of that money to pay the person running the tournament and the rest will go directly to the Mamaroneck Schools Foundation. You can also donate towards a fund to pay for prizes for the winners (suggested donation is $10).
Is there limited space?
We are planning for 50 people. After we get that many signups we will start a wait list. After signing up, you will get a confirmation email that you have a spot, and instructions for how to pay the fee.
Is there a rain date?
We do not have one planned yet; we will likely find a date in the fall if it gets rained out. We will try our best to get the tournament done; we will communicate by email that morning if we need to cancel.
Where will the tournament be, exactly?
Decadent Ales is a brew pub in Mamaroneck, attached to the Half Time beer store, on Hoyt Ave. Park along Hoyt Ave. We will play in the parking lot next to the Decadent Ales patio to the left of the store. We will have 5 or 6 games going on at once, so we expect that you’ll be playing about half the time and enjoying their microbrews the other half of the time.
When do I need to arrive?
Arrive by 1:30pm to check in. The tournament will start promptly at 2pm. Feel free to arrive earlier to eat, drink, take warm up tosses, etc.
Will there by food/drinks?
Food, beer, etc. can be purchased on site from Decadent Ales. Food/drinks are not included in the entry fee.
Can other folks come to just watch?
Sure! The bar/restaurant will be open, so feel to come and watch your friends/family!
What should I bring?
Nothing! We are providing bags, boards and everything needed to run the tournament. Feel free to bring your own ACL-stamped (or equivalent) cornhole bags if you prefer them, but each game you will be a with a different partnes, so you and your partner will need to settle on a single set of bags to share for that game.
What are the official rules of Cornhole that we will be using?
Watch this video! (Cancellation scoring, first team to 21, with no penalty for going over 21.)
Tell me more about how the tournament will work.
We will use the switcholio format: in the first round, each person will play 4 games with random partners. Players are then ranked according to their record in that first round. This ranking determines your partner in the final round. You will have the same partner for the entire final round. We may separate players into two levels after the first round, depending on how many players sign up, how many boards we have, etc. The final round will be either single- or double-elimination.
The Scoreholio app will automate everything. We will have a screen showing court assignments, standings, etc. Each court will have a tablet for score-keeping. You can also download the app on your phone to tell you when you are up to play, the current scores/standings, etc. After you sign up, we will send more instructions about how to register in the app.
What is the Mamaroneck Schools Foundation (MSF)?
